The amount of times I’ve sat refreshing my Instagram notifications after posting one of my strategically edited flatlays or ‘makeup of the day’ posts can’t be normal, right?
With Instagram now being a major source of income and platform to promote almost any venture, I imagine we are all a little guilty of obsessing over how many likes our last photo got or whether your caption was witty enough. Over the years of creating and deleting numerous accounts I’ve learnt to post only what I myself would love to see and what’s “true to myself” as cliché as that sounds. I know fellow bloggers can relate to being focused on the numbers, whether or not you want to care. the swirling vortex of Sports Illustrated worthy bikini shots and luxury makeup collections you’d have to sell a kidney to afford can make anyone’s passion for photography turn sour. That’s not to say I feel bitter, I’ve learnt the hard way to not compare myself or find flaws in others, but it can be hard not to feel competitive with others who are “killing the game” as we would say on Instagram.
So, what should we do?
The answer is, whatever the hell you want!
Thats something I realised not long ago. I’m trying to put it into practice as we speak (the man next to me on the train is definitely reading over my shoulder).
You can’t compare your chapter 1 to someone’s chapter 20, which means that we don’t know how different their online growth process was, and just because they get 50,000 likes per photo doesn’t mean your content isn’t good enough or that you’ll never “make it”. I promise that once you stop overanalysing your feed you’ll create a much more positive experience online. I honestly have so much to say on this topic, so watch out for more rants to come.
If you take one thing away from this, and this is as much advice for myself as it is for you, create content that inspires you because you’re the only person that you should compete with in life. When I find myself comparing my curated online presence to that of a blogger with 1m followers, I try to remind myself that to succeed the only person I need to be better than is who I was yesterday.
Today is a slightly different post, but one I hope will help any pet owners who read my blog! In case you don’t follow my instagram, I have a cute little pekingese named Honey who is about 11 years old. When petshop.co.uk sent me these cute goodies, I just had to photograph his reaction.
Honey received lots of lovely goodies from the shop, and as much as he loves food, his favourite has to be Estella the Elephant. The food itself is actually very healthy, and my parents who organise this sort of thing said it’s definitely more natural than other brands’ ingredients. He also received Pet Munchies Chicken treats which for a dog are literal heaven.
He would only get tiny pieces of this per day, but it’s again a very natural food product for dogs and is mostly made from chicken breast. This toy that you’ll see below is an eco friendly ‘squeeze toy’ or whatever the official name is!
Initially he couldn’t be separated from her, and when I pulled her by her tail Honey would chase the toy non-stop! You can also squeeze the eyes for the slowly-getting-annoying-but-stil-kinda-cute squeaks. I would totally recommend this if your dog loves toys and is just generally playful.
I hope you guys enjoyed my little review, and let me know if you’ll check out the shop!
Today I have an exciting update post for you girls. I was recently sent literally the best product ever!
It is a new weight loss ‘wrap’ in which you apply the oil pictured below, then a ‘shrinky suit’ over the top.
You may have heard and seen the fads all about weight loss supplements, and especially waist trainers which are a celebrity favourite. But this is really not at all daunting to use. The instructions are very clear, so you can’t go wrong.
The results are pictured at the end, so keep reading:
(Left to right) : The final result, after using it twice on my waist area and after the initial use.
If you can see, my waist width has gone down and is a little more streamlined. I definitely felt the oil working once applied (1hr) and using a tape measure only proved the effects further.
It is subtle but it is honestly a miracle product in my opinion. I have now given it to my mum to try, as I was quite skinny to begin with so I don’t have genuine problem areas, but I couldn’t resist giving it a go!
What do you think?
Shrinking Violet has been available since September 15th and you can purchase your kit for £99 online.
Here is a quick and easy recipe I used the other day. I was craving some genuine home cooked food rather than processed, prepared food I’ve been binging on during my time in Florida! I whipped together some simple ingredients to make a lovely and healthy meal:
The finished effect – choc full of veggies, such an easy way to be healthy without boring raw veggies!
I bought (and kind of cheated) vegetable stir fry which you steam in the microwave for a few minutes. It’s a good choice if you have a lot going on with other cooking such as using the stove.
The flash was a bit intense in this photo, but I used an Asian cooking sauce made up of orange ginger, which you heat up and pour over. If you’re feeling adventurous you can make your own from scratch.
I put pasta on the stove for 10ish minutes. This was the easiest part. I like to use spaghetti, not sure why but I love Italian food so I incorporate that wherever I can.
At the same time I put chicken breast over a medium heat with oil, and sprinkled garlic over it to add a kick and some flavour. You have to be careful with this as meat needs to be monitored as you would get sick if you weren’t careful!
Let me know your thoughts and if you would try it out!
Hey girls (and possibly guys)
Today is somewhat of a haul and review, as you may have seen there is no technology tab on my blog precisely because I am no expert and rarely splurge on new items. However, with the new school term starting my laptop conveniently decided it was time for a break, so voila, I resorted to buying a new one which was much less hassle. Although my bank account took a hard hit, I did have a little discount.
I picked the Macbook Pro 13inch, a standard ‘notebook’ or laptop pretty much, it has everything you need all wrapped into one snazzy Apple package and if you have an iphone or ipad Im sure the layout and features are identical!
It powers up very quickly and is really efficient, you can of course customize a lot so it is down to preference. Make sure to purchase anti-virus software and whatever other features like Word that you need.
I would say it is worth the money, and if you’re always on it for schoolwork or blogging, it is a great investment. Also, for making videos and editing it’s one of the best ‘packages’ you could get. I will update you guys at some point, but for now I’m so in love with it, it’s just so sleek and tiny.
What do you guys think of macbooks?
